Update!

I have an interview at Kensey next Thursday at 10am. The job, at the moment, is temporary but I've no doubt I can convince them to make it permanent...

I'm back!!

Well, we're settled in - still got a lot of sorting out to do yet though.

Not happy with Sky as when we couldn't be here when they were available to sort out the system they weren't able to do it until 17 Nov - so much for doing it when you want it done! Loada bollocks!!

Anyway, enough of that, the phone was sorted speedily enough, as was the internet. I've got an application in for a job - nowt special, just working for the sister company of Ginsters - Kensey foods. Hopefully I should hear from them soon.

As for my projects, the one mentioned in my last post has been put to one side pending my finding a suitable cable pattern for the neckline as I didn't like the one that was in the pattern. Also, I'm whipping up a wrap, (crocheted) for my mum in some lovely grey alpaca which I bought ages ago as it's her birthday tomorrow and I'd like to get it done in time for her birthday dinner on Thursday night.

Well, back to the grind...

Uhhhh...

...been on the Grand Union canal for the past week, working me arse off with the locks while Hubby steered the boat, (though he let me have a go every now and then)!

I managed to finally get a start on a pattern I'd ordered from Knit Picks ages ago and, though it's not true to the pattern - I did lose track of where I was more than once but so what - we'll call it a 'design element'. Still doesn't look bad at all!

Next week we will be moving to our next pad - we have to be out of here by Sunday. As per usual we are the procrastinators extrodinaire and, so, we have absolutely nothing sorted - no mail being redirected, no timings for hooking up the net or Sky, we haven't even gotten a look at the interior of this new place yet, won't until we start moving our stuff in.
Well, whatever - the landlord is a good bloke and seems to be very flexible about everything - hasn't asked for a deposit or references or anything. Cool!

One to be frogged...

...but not because there's anything wrong with it as such apart from the size is too small, (yes, yes, I know but I just don't do swatching if I can help it)!!

Anyway, I thought I'd share pics just in case I don't bother trying to do this particular design, (Fetching, from Knitty.com) in this way again.

So, here we go:
The pink between the cables should be tighter but I was very much aware of doing the stranding too tight and then being unable to fit it over my hand because of it.

I think, if I am to make this again in this way, that I will need to go up at least one needle size to avoid the cutting off of circulation issue!

Time to frog then I guess...

Just a few piccies!

This first piccy is of the star baby blanket. You'll note that the centre is pinned because my lil man was just a lil rough with it not long after finishing. The centre is now repaired with an extra little star.

These two piccies are a top of my own design - looks a little scraggy at the mo as it needs washing and blocking, I slipped it over a cushion so that some details can be captured a little better. I used just over four balls of lane cervinia 'londra' which is 43% wool, 42% acrylic and 15% alpaca.

It's very soft but the 'hairiness' can be a little irritating so it would be advisable to wear it as a layer rather than on it's own. Hopefully washing will help a little with that though.

And, finally, here is just one of the pair of socks I designed - a design which I will be submitting to Angel Yarns for a book/series of sock patterns.

Let's hope that my pattern-writing is good enough!

Oh Golly, Gee, Wow!!

Blogger has thrown a new way of tinkering our blogs at us and, being me, I really have to have one!!!!

So, this will be my new(est) knitting blog to tell of all things knitty, crochety and crafty in general!

Now I really need to get some piccies of my latest creations - there are no excuses.

If they would just get some smilies sorted out then I think it'd be nigh on perfect!
